Note:
You may need to have your Windows CD to complete
this part of the setup. If you decide to proceed
and do not have your Windows CD or if you do
not know if your computer was shipped with one
you will be proceeding At Your Own Risk.
1. Begin by clicking on Start, then click once
on Control Panel.

2. Click once on Network and Internet Connections
on the right.

3. In the Network and Internet Connections
window, click on Set up or change your Internet
Connection on the right.

4. The Internet Properties window will open.

5. Select ShreveNet under Dial-up and virtual
private network settings and then click Settings
on the right.

6. Verify that Your Username is entered correctly
at the bottom. Since you cannot see Your Password
you may wish to retype it to be sure. Remember,
the username and password must be in all lowercase
letters and no spaces.
7. Click on the Properties button.

8. Verify that Your Local Connection Number
is correct.

9. Click on the Networking tab.

10. Verify that the following options are checked:
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
QoS Packet Scheduler
Client for Microsoft Networks
11. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click
Properties.

12. Verify that both Obtain an IP address automatically
and Obtain DNS server address automatically
are selected.
13. Click on the Advanced button.
14. Verify that both Use default gateway on
remote network and Use IP header compression
are checked.

15. Click on the DNS tab.

16. Verify that there are no DNS entries in
the top box labeled DNS server addresses, in
order of use.
17. Verify that Append primary and connection
specific DNS suffixes is selected.
18. Verify that Append parent suffixes of the
primary DNS suffix is checked.
19. Click on the WINS tab.

20. Verify that there are no entries in the
top box labeled WINS addresses, in order of
use.
21. Verify that Enable LMHOSTS lookup is checked
and that Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP is selected.
22. Click OK on every window until you reach
the desktop.
23. Restart the computer and see if that improves
your connection problems.
